ICON WINEMAKER KATHY JOSEPH OF FIDDLEHEAD CELLARS IN SANTA BARBARA

Pioneering woman winemaker Kathy Joseph’s early days in winemaking were in Napa Valley, where she learned to make the full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignons known and loved around the world. She loves to point out how ironic it is that her signature wines, first released in 1989, are in the polar opposite style. Her newly released Gruner Veltliner and Pinot Noirs are the epitome of finesse, elegance, subtlety and balance. Her own Fiddlestix vineyard, 100 acres in Santa Barbara’s Sta. Rita Hills just miles from the coast, is her jewel in the crown.
