Planet Grape Wine Review
Short, appealing, non-technical reviews created by global wine experts.
Planet Grape Wine Review delivers short, non-technical reviews for regular people. Created by renowned wine expert Catherine Fallis, the world’s fifth female Master Sommelier, and made up of only the highest-level credentialed beverage industry experts, Planet Grape Wine Review is America’s first female-led wine review. Each panelist brings their own palate, tastes, preferences, and rich experience to the table.
When evaluating wines, spirits, ciders, beers and food items, Planet Grape Wine Review assigns a point score. As a sommelier, Catherine Fallis eschewed the 100-point system, preferring her own palate to the ratings of the Wine Spectator or of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. As a consumer wine advocate, she understands how helpful these point scores are. After being asked by a winery client to give point scores to a library collection of their wines, and by a boutique wine distributor to do the same, she has become a convert.
However, Catherine wants you to know it is impossible to capture the heart and soul of a wine in a quick 5-minute evaluation. She and her fellow panelists make every possible effort to employ the “grape goddess 3-day rule,” where the wine is reviewed several times over 3 days, without the use of any preservation system, to see how it evolves, changes, and opens to show its full personality. Wines are evaluated alone and with food. Planet Grape Wine Reviews are usually one sentence and have no technical jargon. Reviews of samples and purchased products are supplemented by products tasted with producers either at trade tastings or at their wineries and distilleries around the world.
